In a world filled with endless distractions, there is one thing parents can do to help their kids feel seen, secure, safe, and at home.

We can show up.

• Do the negative aspects of your own upbringing make it difficult to respond to your child with patience and compassion, rather than anger and frustration?

• Does your youngster crave attention constantly...or reject you, preferring online activities to family time?

• Does your child struggle with emotional regulation, or have difficulty managing stress?

• Are you concerned about your child's ability to forge healthy relationships, or confidently handle new experiences?

• Do the demands of life affect your ability to be present and engaged with your child?

Your hosts:

Daniel J. Siegel, M.D., is clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, the founding co-director of the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center, and executive director of the Mindsight Institute. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Siegel is the author of several books, including the New York Times bestsellers Brainstorm, Mind, and, with Tina Payne Bryson, The Whole-Brain Child and No-Drama Discipline. He is also the author of the bestsellers Mindsight and, with Mary Hartzell, Parenting from the Inside Out.

Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D., is the co-author, with Daniel J. Siegel, of two New York Times bestsellers, The Whole-Brain Child and No-Drama Discipline, as well as the upcoming Bottom Line for Baby. She is the founder and executive director of the Center for Connection, an interdisciplinary clinical team in Pasadena, California. She is a licensed clinical social worker, providing pediatric and adolescent psychotherapy and parenting consultations. As well, she keynotes conferences and conducts workshops for parents, educators, and clinicians all over the world.
Susan Stiffelman is a licensed Marriage, Family and Child Therapist, teacher, and parent educator. She is the author Parenting Without Power Struggles and Parenting With Presence (an Eckhart Tolle Edition). In this Master Class you'll discover:

• How attachment and relational experiences affect neuroplasticity in the child's developing brain

• How to fortify emotional resilience so children can ride the waves of life's more challenging experiences

• How to create quality time with our family in an age of digital distractions

• How we can show up more fully for our children, even if we did not have secure attachment with our own caregivers

• Why aiming for "perfect parenting" is not only unrealistic, but harmful

• Simple strategies, based on the latest brain and attachment research, for honoring the Four S’s of Attachment:

  • Safe: Giving a child a sense of safe harbor so she will be able to take the needed risks for growth and change
  • Seen: Truly seeing a child to attune to what’s happening in his mind beneath his behavior
  • Soothed: Teaching your child how to cope when life gets hard and showing him that he’ll never have to suffer alone
  • Secure: Reliably showing up for your child, so she will trust and thrive in a feeling of secure attachment

One of the best scientific predictors for a child's happiness, academic success, leadership skills, and meaningful relationships is whether at least one adult in their life has consistently shown up for them.
