Tired of begging, bribing, negotiating, or threatening?

Susan Stiffelman's Parenting Without Power Struggles Monthly Membership Program
will help you have more joy -- and fewer power struggles -- with your children!

I only wish I'd joined sooner! Having Susan there to help me change old habits has completely transformed our family. I didn't think it was possible to stop yelling and taking away the iPad to get my kids to listen, but it is.
Thank you, Susan, for offering such an affordable way to make such a big difference in our lives!

I’ve worked with thousands of parents for over four decades as a teacher and licensed psychotherapist, drawing from my extensive training in attachment theory, learning style, ADHD, and mindfulness practices.

I’ve hosted parenting workshops from Africa to Kansas, Israel to Seattle, and written two best-selling parenting books.

What I've found is that having an experienced and reliable guide to help address ever-changing parenting challenges makes the biggest impact in reducing power struggles, stress, and family drama.

Without a safe place to sort through our parenting challenges, we may do nothing at all, hoping the situation will resolve itself.

Unfortunately, what began as a small issue often becomes a full-blown problem; a bossy child may start losing friends; a youngster may begin having meltdowns when screen time is taken away because it's the only thing that makes them happy; minor flare ups may turn into escalating rages--in our child, or in ourselves!

To that end, I have created a membership community that will help you enjoy a peaceful, nurturing family life.

You’ll have support when you hit a rough patch, and inspiration to keep you on track when things are going well!

A parent describes how the membership has changed her family's life.

Living in a rural community, access to health and family resources is limited for me. Susan has been a great parenting resource. I have done her online courses which have worked well for me to do on my own time and pace, and her monthly membership sessions offer additional support. I love that I can submit questions and listen to her answer live or via replays if I'm not available. I learn from other parents' questions, and while no one enjoys struggling, it is validating to hear from other parents and know that I am not alone in my parenting challenges.

Imagine the relief of having personal guidance from an experienced family counselor for whatever parenting challenges you may be facing.

Working with parents and children has been my passion and joy for over forty years. (I was young when I started!) I began my work as a credentialed teacher and then became licensed as a Marriage and Family psychotherapist.

For many years, I was the parenting expert for AOL and the Huffington Post, writing a weekly advice column on every aspect of raising children.

I have written the popular book, Parenting Without Power Struggles: Raising Joyful, Resilient Kids While Staying Cool, Calm, and Connected, and Parenting With Presence: Practices for Raising Conscious, Confident, Caring Kids (An Eckhart Tolle Edition.)

Decades of experience have led me to develop a way of approaching children that fosters cooperation -- instead of power struggles, negotiations, and arguments.

I show parents how to stay confidently calm as the “Captain of the ship”, even in the face of difficult behavior.

And I help families deepen attachment and connection, allowing parents and children to enjoy one another, creating joy, ease, and harmony in the home.

What if...?

What if I have a parenting question but I can't show up on a call to ask for help?

Questions are submitted ahead of time for each coaching session. Those who don't attend live receive the same attention as those who do!

What if I'm so busy I can't even imagine having time to watch the replays?

We attach a time-stamp to each replay video with each specific question and my answer. This means you can easily fast forward to hear to just hear the information most relevant to you. Parents tell me that they often play the audio in the background while folding laundry or preparing a meal, or that they tune in for 5 or 10 minutes at a time. Even listening for a few minutes can help you break with old parenting patterns and stay on track to become the calm, Captain of the ship.

What if I work full-time? It's unlikely I will ever be able to attend the live sessions at all.

Parents are busy! While it's fun to be on the calls, most of our members watch the replays of our sessions. If you don't want to waste hours searching YouTube for free advice that may not be effective, our membership is a rare opportunity to get top-quality, personalized support at a fraction of the cost of sessions with a trained, trustworthy professional.

What if I'm a lifelong yeller! Isn't it impossible for a tiger to change her spots?

I wish I had a nickel for every time a parent tried to convince me that her situation or temperament was special. The short answer is this: ANY parent can make changes in how they engage with their child if they have regular, ongoing support. I've seen it happen with parents who were convinced that the only way their kids would cooperate would be to yell, threaten, or bribe. It may seem like you'll always be a Lawyer or Dictator, but I've been doing this a long, long time and I know that every parent can move toward being the calm Captain of the ship when they have ongoing help.

What if things are going pretty well in my family's life? Don't most members join because they have problems with their children?

Some parents join the program because they need help NOW for issues, but most of our members because they want to solidify a parenting style that aligns with their sensibilities, even if it's not what they experienced growing up. And many members with young children tell me that what they learn from hearing me address questions related to parenting older kids has helped them avoid problems they feel they would otherwise have struggled with.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do the coaching calls happen?

The coaching calls are generally held on the 5th and 20th of each month at varied times so people in all time zones have opportunities to participate live.

What if I can't make the coaching calls?

We vary call times to allow as many parents as possible join live. However, the call replays reside in your member portal so you can watch at your convenience. You can also post your questions in advance and tune in to the replay for personalized guidance.

Is there a commitment required to stay in the program?

There is no enrollment commitment - you can cancel at any time. Your access to membership benefits, including coaching call replays, is based on your active membership. If your monthly charge is unsuccessful, your membership will pause until you update your credit card details. If you cancel your membership, you will no longer have access to the member coaching call recordings.

 What ages is this for?

We have designed the membership program to benefit parents of toddlers through teens. It’s also helpful to listen to all parent questions, regardless of your child’s age – the themes of co-regulation and attachment apply to all children.

What can I expect out of this membership?

You can expect consistent support to help you become the calm, confident Captain of the ship in your children's lives. Through monthly coaching calls, emails and the Weekly Wisdom Library, you will have my ongoing help to navigate the ups and downs in your parenting life.

How is this program different from those offered by other parenting coaches?

I have a Bachelor's degree in Developmental Psychology, a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, a teaching credential, and decades of experience working with families as a licensed Marriage and Family therapist. My insights and instincts come from over 40 years experience working with thousands of parents and children. I have qualifications that are not typical for the hosts of most parenting programs.

Parents share their experience:

The PWPS Membership has made me feel so much more supported as a parent navigating life with two boys, including one who has severe ADHD. A while back, I submitted a question to Susan and her response was incredibly helpful. It provided us tools we needed to get our family all on the same page as far as expectations of behavior. I highly recommend Susan’s membership!

Susan’s membership has been invaluable. I’ve gotten short-term help with my pressing dilemmas, and longer-term, the calls are like training to be the parent I want to be. Over time, through listening to Susan address other parents’ questions as well as my own, I started to integrate and internalize Susan’s approach. Now, occasionally, I know what Susan’s going to say before she says it! Susan has changed my life. I’m calmer and more connected as a parent than I ever thought possible.
