Does your child have trouble with social, emotional, or behavioral challenges?

Are you at a loss for what to do when your child is misbehaving?

Does your youngster seem unable to control his/her outbursts or aggression?

Have you (wisely) given up on behavior modification methods like rewards and sticker charts?

Rather than viewing children as “bad” when they whine, cry, refuse to cooperate, or engage in aggressive behavior, Dr. Ross Greene sees challenging behavior as the result of demands and expectations that exceed a child’s capacity to respond adaptively.

His Collaborative & Proactive Solutions model focuses on identifying the skills the child is lacking and then working with them  to solve problems, rather than trying to modify their behavior through rewards and punishments.

The CPS model is non-punitive and non-adversarial, decreasing the likelihood of conflict, improving communication, and helping children and adults learn to resolve disagreements in ways that do not involve conflict, shame, or intimidation.

Your hosts:

Dr. Ross Greene is the originator of the model of care now called Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS). Dr. Greene was on the faculty at Harvard Medical School for over 20 years, and is now founding director of the non-profit Lives in the Balance, which provides a vast array of free, web-based resources on the CPS model. He has appeared in a wide range of media, including The Oprah Show, Good Morning America, The Morning Show, National Public Radio, Mother Jones magazine, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, and the Boston Globe. Dr. Greene lectures and consults widely throughout the world.
